Ask Claude to claim a domain

Tell Claude: "Add my domain example.com to this project." Claude calls Hatchable's claim_domain tool and returns the DNS records you need to set.

Step 4

Update DNS at your registrar

Copy the two records (a CNAME and a TXT) into your DNS provider. Hatchable verifies + issues a free Let's Encrypt cert within minutes.

What records you'll need to set

  • CNAME on www (or your apex via ALIAS/ANAME) → pointing to {slug}.hatchable.site.
  • TXT at _hatchable → a verification token Hatchable generates per claim.

Claude returns both values when you ask it to add a domain. Most registrars propagate within a minute or two; certificate issuance happens automatically the moment Hatchable sees the records.

Can I use my apex domain (example.com without www)?
Yes — most modern registrars support ALIAS or ANAME records that work on the apex. If yours only supports A records, ask Claude for the IP-based setup instead.
How long until the cert is issued?
Usually under 5 minutes after DNS records resolve. You can check status with Claude: "Is my domain verified?"
Can I use a subdomain like app.example.com?
Yes — CNAME the subdomain to {slug}.hatchable.site. The TXT record goes on _hatchable.app.example.com.
What if I want to move the domain later?
Just remove the records — your domain is yours. Hatchable doesn't hold it hostage.
Do I need a custom domain to ship?
No. The free {slug}.hatchable.site URL is a real production URL with HTTPS — fine for personal projects, internal tools, MVPs. Add the custom domain when you're ready to put a real brand on it.
